  Workshop Rules
  1. We don't teach glass cutting or basic skills in our Saturday workshops. You should be able to cut glass reasonably well. Beginners welcome when specified.
  2. You must pay in full when you register or provide post-dated cheques for one month prior to the course. If you cancel with reasonable notice, money will be refunded or you will be placed in the next available same subject class.
  3. Materials and all tools, except a glasscutter are provided and included in the price (as is GST). Bring your lunch or run out for fast food.

To enrol in our workshops on line, choose our email link. Include your name, phone number and the course title. Payment options include sending cheques by mail or calling with your Visa or Master Card information. Your place in the class will be reserved once your payment has been confirmed.


Workshop Descriptions (*New course).


Advanced Fused Jewellery
Learn how to use fibre paper and wire during the firing process to create jewellery pieces that do not require bails. Add copper inclusions, fire dichro, gold and sepia slides. Once fired, return to use tile saw, wire saw and dermal to shape and recreate. Fire polish and add the finishing touches. All firings and materials included. Must have taken beginner fusing please.
Dates: Saturdays, Jan 3, 10 & 17 (3 wks)

Kiln Controller Tutorial
Wish you had a kiln, or have one, but are uncomfortable with the computer controller? This tutorial will cover both the function of the Set Pro controller and the Rampmaster. Several programs will be discussed, so come with questions!

Fused Mosaic Lamps
Set the mood with s softly glowing fused and slumped mosaic style lamps. A combination of two techniques written up in the latest Glass Patterns Quarterly, each student will create both the shade and the stand. Materials and electrical included.

Fused Jewellery
Learn how to use the Hotbox kiln while creating your own necklace pendants, brooches or earrings using COE compatible glass, dichroic glass and dichro slides. These eye-catching pieces are quick to produce, easy to sell and gift! Make 6-15 pieces. Materials, findings for 4 pendants, 2 brooches and 1 pr of earrings, adhesive and firing included.

Wire Wrapping for Jewellery with Guest Artist Angela Horne
Welcome Angela Horne from Angela Horne Studios to GP while using colourful wire to finish off your fused pendants. Learn the intricate technique of wire wrapping. Twirls, curls and harness styles will be demonstrated. Each student will need to bring a handful of pre fired cabochons. A $20 material fee is payable to instructor day of class.

Fused Paper Weights
Create 2 simply beautiful glass pieces. Using dichroic, coarse frit, confetti, stringers and crystal clear glass create a pyramid and dome shaped paper weight. Materials and firing included. You may choose to have your pieces cold worked by GP for $30, or book a private lesson and do it yourself for $50.

Traditional Techniques; Copper foil & Lead came
Some materials included, tools provided for use in class. Introduction to both techniques will be covered while creating 2 copper foil suncatchers and a Frank Lloyd Wright inspired lead came panel. Each student will receive comprehensive instruction in glass cutting, foiling, glazing, soldering and finishing.

Fusing with Slides
Sepia, photo, dichro, gold....all have been made into a slide form that can be fused to glass! During this workshop, create jewellery with gold decals, sepia designs and dichroic cut outs. Return the next week to learn how to transfer a photograph or computer generated clip art onto photo fusing paper, which you will then fire onto an 8” round. The possibilities are endless. All materials, 6 pendant bails and firings included. Beginners welcome.

Valentines Party! Fun with Frit
Join Krista for a fun filled afternoon of playing with frit. Using System 96 pre-cut clear round blanks and our large frit selection, create a unique, collage style piece that will later be tack fired and can be placed in a stand. Bring a collection of your favourite patterns or pictures to use as template. Materials and firings included.
Date: Saturday, Feb 14

Colouring Outside the Lines with Guest Artist Elizabeth Beecham
Our Art Show, 1st place winner for three years running, has decided it’s time to share her unique painterly technique using glass powder and liquid stringer medium. Connect with your inner child and create two unique pieces. Materials and firing included.

Glass Flowing; melting through apetures
Come have an afternoon glass flowing of fun. Use System 96 fusing scrap to create unique appeture pours using clay pots and stainless steele grids. Then experiment pulling your own stringers! Twist and turn, this is a lot of fun! Materials included.

Art Glass Lanterns in Wrought Iron Frame
Same fun as before, but with a new look! No box construction needed. Create 4 sides of copper foiled abstract using our art glass scraps, then secure them into a beautiful wrought iron frame.

Copper Overlay Silhouettes
Remember that piece of glass you saw that would be a shame to cut up it’s so lovely? Use copper foil overlay to transpose a landscape, abstract or stylized silhouette onto your favourite piece of glass and you won’t have to. Each piece will be framed in zinc. Each student will need, (not included), 1 piece of Art Glass, no larger then 12”x16”.

Art Clay SIlver Rings with Certified Instructor Angela Horne
GP is pleased to have Angela return for art clay rings. Art Clay Silver is a water-based clay made of pure silver powder, water and an organic binder. It can be easily molded, allowing pure silver jewellery to be created without specialized tools or soldering. During this intermediate workshop each student will create a pure silver ring as well as work with pre-fused cabochons to create a combination glass/silver piece. This medium is a great way to enhance your fused jewellery experience. Materials included.

Fused Textured Pictures
Not only can we create jewellery, dishes and sculpture with a kiln, we can also produce panels. Learn how to use kiln safe casting powders to create a 9” x 16” fused glass panel. Glass powder, frit, stringers and cut glass will complete the design. Come with a panel pattern of your choice, which we will adapt to the technique. Materials and firing included. No beginners please.

Intaglio, The Art of Sandblasting
Recently put on display in the studio, are portfolio and art piece by Fernando Reyes. Fernando works professionally in the sand blasting industry and has agreed to show us how to reproduce a 3-dimentionally sand carved art piece. Using different blasting nozzles, rubber resist, and design layering, each student will produce a sampler that has been shaded and carved . Materials included.

Glowing Panes 6th Annual Art Show & Sale
Display space is 2’X4’, w electrical, $30 Participants may display and sell (optional) any originally interpreted pieces of artwork. More details available in store. Date: Saturday, April 25 & Sunday, April 26
