Workshop Rules
- We don't teach glass cutting or basic skills in
our Saturday workshops. You should be able to cut glass reasonably
well. Beginners welcome when specified.
- You must pay in full when you register or provide post-dated
cheques for one month prior to the course. If you cancel with
reasonable notice, money will be refunded or you will be placed
in the next available same subject class.
- Materials and all tools, are provided and
included in the price (as is GST). Bring your lunch or run out
for fast food.

options include sending cheques by mail or calling with your Visa
or MasterCard information. Your place in the class will be reserved
once your payment has been confirmed.
Workshop Descriptions (*New course).
Fused Pendant Lamps*
September 11 & 18, 10am-12pm, $175
Why learn how to drape? To make these beauties of course! Using System 96 pre-cut 12” blanks, each student will cast, colour, drape and
wire their very own pendant drop lamp. Casting on kiln safe powders, draping and glass drilling will be covered. Materials included. Beginners welcome.
Fused Panel Lamps*
September 11 & 18, 1-4pm, $175
Light up your home with this modern interpretation of the traditional panel lamp. The first week will be spent creating the six
fused sides that will be assembled the following week. Morton System, and basic panel lamp construction will be covered. Beginner fusers welcome, glass cutting experience a must. 3 sq. ft. of System 96 fusing glass and lamp base are not included.
Silver Wire Rings with Glass*
September 25, 1-4pm, $67
Welcome glass artist Wendy Emery and learn her wire wrapped ring techniques. Tumbling will be done to harden and polish the
pieces to a durable brilliant shine. Wire packages and glass cabochons are to be purchased from the instructor directly during the class.
So make as many rings as you can with the experts help! (Average material cost $25/ring.)
Art Clay Silver with Certified Instructor Lis Simpson
September 25, 10am-4pm, $160
Art Clay Silver is a water-based clay made of pure silver powder, water and an organic binder. It can be easily molded, allowing pure
silver jewellry to be created without specialized tools or soldering. During this introductory workshop each student will create a pure
silver pendant as well as work with pre-fused cabochons to create a combination glass/silver piece. This medium is a great way to
enhance your fused jewellery experience. Materials included.
Beginner or Nearly Beginner‚ Glass Fusing
October 2, 10am-4pm, $195
Learn stained glass’s hottest craze-glass, fusing. This easy-to-grasp technique is a great stress reliever! The course will cover
glass compatibility, equipment use and multi-layer fusing and slumping. Create with colour and shape, unique jewellery with
dichroic glass and a fused and slumped serving dish with System 96 fusible glass. All materials included.
3-D in a Round*
October 2, 10am-4pm, $225
Did you make the table and are ready for a different shape? Using the principles of volume control, loose fibre damming and
glass displacement create a 3-dimensional, 1/2” thick, fused and slumped 10” bowl. Krista has thoroughly explored the many
ways this technique can be presented and has sold several of her pieces. Materials included. No beginners please.
Verre D’Eglomise*
October 9, 10am-12pm, $95
Recently introduced to us on our trip to the American Southwest, this technique inspired a new application for simply
slumped glass. Using acrylic paints and metal leaf, each student will design, sandblast, paint and leaf an 8” dish. Materials
included. Beginners welcome.
Fused Hinged Box*
October 9 & 16, 1-4pm, $115
A new twist to a well known technique, the fused hinge allows for sturdy lid construction without the heavy foil
and solder lines. Create the fused lid and hinge the first week and construct the box the following week. Materials included.
Morton Demonstration
October 16, 10am-11am, $20
Do you have one of these wonderful systems but don’t use it to it’s full potential? Would you like one, but want to be sure
you know all about it? This 1 hour demonstration will cover everything you need to know for successful use.
Soldering Demonstration*
October 16, 11am-12pm, $20
If you are frustrated with your soldering this is the demonstration for you. How to maintain your iron, use your flux and the different types of solder will be covered as well as the all important, “how do I make this look better!”
Advanced Glass Carving*
October 23 & 30, 10am-4pm, $250
Taught by our artist associate, Fernando Reyes, this course is geared towards those whom have already learned the introductory
technique of stage blasting. Spend two full days under his expert guidance while learning and developing your glass carving technique.
Each student will create a deeply carved piece. A $40 materials fee is payable to Fernando on the day of the course.
Pillar Table Lamps*
October 23 - November 13, 10am-4pm, $390
These lamps are a wonderful showcase of colour and shape. Incorporating fused glass accents and sized at 7” X 7” X 21” this four sided
freestyle creation will give you hours of enjoyment and conversation. Fused glass sets will be available for purchase at the start of the class
and will guide you in purchasing the 6 sq. ft. needed for the construction. The wooden lantern base, lighting hardware and other consumables included. No beginners please.
Modern Art*
November 6 & 13, 10am-12pm, $230
Learn how to use glass and aluminium to create a 16” square piece of modern wall mountable art. Each student will create a 12”
square fused glass piece the first week and return to mount it upon a 16” square of aluminium. Materials included. Beginners welcome.
Beginner Lead Postage Stamp Mirror*
November 20 & 27, 10am-4pm, $195
Do you have stamp collections that you wish you could show off? Well we do! Use our large and unique postage stamp collection while
learning simple lead came construction to create a 16” X 32” collectors mirror. Materials included. Fused accent extra.
Intaglio, The Art of Sand Blasting
November 27, 10am-4pm, $150
Fernando Reyes, our newest artist associate at GP works professionally in the sand blasting industry and has will now be teaching at
GP on a regular basis. In this introductory course each student will produce a stage blasted art piece. The techniques of flat blasting,
carving, and air brushing will also be discussed. A $40 materials fee is payable to Fernando on the day of the course.
Seasonal Stakes II*
December 4, 10am-4pm, $150
Back by popular demand with new patterns! Brightly fused panels in wrought iron stakes to mark the season with colour.
Suitable for cold weather, these stakes are an *” square on edge. Create a fused picture using fusing compatible glass that
will after be siliconed into the frame. Materials and stake included.
Relief Casting
December 11, 10am-12pm, $85
In time for holiday serving and gift giving! As seen done in the latest Lisa Voigt book, Fire & Ice, create a subtly elegant
dish using fibre paper and blanket for bas relief. Learn the resist properties of iridescent glass while creating an 8” dish. Beginners
welcome. Materials included.
Jewellery Mania!
December 11, 1-4pm, $25
Need gifts for teachers, hosts and friends? Join us for an afternoon jewellery fuse-a-thon. Using System 96 glass create as
many cabochons as you can. If you want to add dichroic glass a $10 surcharge will apply. Bails and chains not included.
Copper Overlay Silhouettes
December 18, 10am-4pm, $75
Remember that piece of glass you saw that would be a shame to cut up it’s so lovely? Use copper foil overlay to transpose a
landscape, abstract or stylised silhouette onto your favourite piece of glass and you won’t have to. Each piece will be framed
in a brass ring. Each student will need 1 sq. ft. of art glass, not included.
